Credit Risk Management (CRM) is responsible for the management of all credit risks throughout the WestLB Group. CRM — that’s 500 colleagues distributed across 19 locations around the globe ensures that decisions to enter or exit a business with a client are made after careful consideration of expected returns on risks assumed. Furthermore, they have an efficient credit processing and optimise the credit risk structure of the Bank by means of portfolio management. In this way they protect the capital of our Bank, support the generation of sustainable profits and, consequently, serve the mission of WestLB — sustaining and increasing shareholder value. In this regard, they work closely with our colleagues from relationship management and the different product units.

The main aim of CRM is, by actively managing credit risks, to keep the risk costs/provisioning low for the Bank and thus making a significant contribution to the Bank’s results.
