Business areas
This section will give you an understanding of the different business areas, or Business Units as we call them, which are currently intending to hire graduates and interns and the different career opportunities they offer.
Within the Corporates and Capital Markets division, the following Business Units are hiring graduates or offering internships:
- Global Markets — the focus here is primarily on the development and trading of customised product solutions for all clients of WestLB.
- Global Origination — industry sector experts who provide client coverage and deal with originating, structuring and executing new issues such as bonds, syndicated loans, securitisations or structured finance solutions for borrowers and issuers of securities.
- Group Treasury — this division manages the balance sheet and equity structure and the entire liquidity position of the Banking Group.
- Investment Management — the Investment Management Unit is responsible for balance sheet management for a broad range of assets or investments held by WestLB on its own behalf.
- Global Asset Management — produces and distributes individual investment products, primarily for institutional investors.
Other areas in support of the client acquisition efforts that are hiring graduates and/or interns include:
- Credit Risk Management — this division manages all credit risks throughout the WestLB Group.
- Market Risk Management — the people in this unit are responsible for the market risk management of the trading portfolios and the banking book portfolios containing interest rate risks.
- Group Operations — directly supports the trading areas of WestLB and is responsible for the processing, settlement, documentation and control of a wide variety of transactions executed by the Bank.
- Human Resources — is responsible for every aspect of a person’s employment during their time with the Bank.
- Group Finance — has a wide remit within the Bank, offering services to the Bank itself as a legal entity and also directly supporting the Front Office.
- IT — With approximately 750 full-time professionals, the Information Technology (IT) business unit delivers IT services to all of WestLB’s businesses worldwide.
